Our Philosophy-

We believe that when educating young children you should treat them like family and that is what we do here at the Presbyterian Preschool. Ours is an educational program focused on the important facets of early childhood development. We help your child develop a firm school readiness foundation as well as social and emotional skills. Through the use of developmental and exploratory methods, each individual child learns the skills needed for a successful school career. We consider ourselves to combine the best elements of play-centered learning and traditional elements of learning. Our small group size provides socialization opportunities and aids in development of interpersonal relationships. Our flexible structure encourages self discipline in children and fosters eager learners. We want every child to know learning is fun.

CURRENT PRESCHOOL ACTIVITIES:

The preschool is saying goodbye to winter . We are now in full spring mode. If you haven't noticed yet, our bulletin board is sprouting some very beautiful spring preschool flowers. We have also created a handprint rainbow to remind us of the beautiful colors that can be found this time of year. Our tree branch is making its change to spring as well with spring flowers, butterflies, and leaves. Come and take a peek.

This month some sneaky and tricky leprechauns came to visit our classrooms. The water in the bathrooms and in our drinking water for snack time was turned green. We also found some gold and footprints around the church. They were very mischievous little men this year.

Coming in April we will be hatching butterflies from chrysalises. We will learn all about the butterfly lifecycle. The children will be going on a nature walk and making nature boxes to collect any items that show us spring has arrived.

Our Program-

The Presbyterian Preschool is a community service established in 1964 and sponsored by Presbyterian Church of Broomfield for 3 to 6 year olds. The preschool is a mission outreach of the Presbyterian Church, but the curriculum is not a religious-based program.

Our program hours are from 9:00- 11:30. We offer a two-day program on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, as well as a three-day program on Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday which includes our Friday kindergarten-enrichment program for students planning on entering kindergarten in Fall, 2014. Children must be 3 years of age and bathroom independent.

Our classroom size is small with only 10-12 kids per group. We offer a variety of art, music, literacy and math activities in addition to large and small motor-skill development.

We also offer a Lunch Bunch program. It is an extended day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of every week for students to bring their own lunch and eat at the school. During Lunch Bunch we rotate through different curriculum topics such as Science, Social Studies, Art, and Music. Lunch Bunch is an additional charge beyond tuition.

Tuition for 2013-2014 School Year:
$140 / 2 day program or $170 / 3 day program.

Our Staff-

Kristen Chiles – Interim Director - has taught both at the Elementary level and at the Preschool level for 18 years. She has also written curriculum for Compassion International and the Enlighten non-profit organizations. Kristen has 3 children of her own, 2 of which attended the Presbyterian Preschool. She is currently ECE qualified and Director qualified. Kristen began working at the preschool in 2009. Teaching and directing at the preschool is her dream job where she is able to spend wonderful moments with the precious preschool age and still be a mom to her own children. She enjoys her busy schedule where she drives all over the state for soccer and baseball tournaments with her children, as well as piano, youth group, gymnastics, and numerous other school activities. She has little free time to pursue her own interests, but she enjoys reading, bible study, road trips, and most of all, family time. Education is what brought her and her husband, Tim, together where he is now a principal at an elementary school in Arvada. Teaching has always been Kristen’s passion and working with the children at the preschool is a true joy to her.

Connie Gordon began subbing at the Presbyterian Preschool in 1994 while her youngest son was a student there. Two years later she joined the teaching staff and has been enjoying the rewarding world of early childhood education ever since. Mrs. Gordon has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Vocational Secondary Teaching Certificate in Business Education. She has also taken early childhood education courses. Her husband Dave and she realized that her work at the preschool was a great fit for their family and would allow her to have a fulfilling teaching career as well as being a hands-on Mom at home. She and her husband have been a part of the Broomfield community since 1975 and have raised their three children in Broomfield. Mrs. Gordon feels so honored to have been a part of the lives of over 800 preschoolers in her “extended family” at the Presbyterian Preschool and has been so proud of following her students’ accomplishments as they continue their Broomfield education.
